What to Wear?

I always stress to dress for the location and weather! For casual sessions wear what you would normally if you were to go out on a stroll. For engagement shoots aim for a casual outfit and a more formal outfit. A flowy dress or a nice button down. For maternity shoots I recommend something flowy and/or form fitting- Accentuate that baby bump!

I recommend bringing at least two outfits, or more! Ladies, having a camisole or undershirt can help in the changing process (or bring a blanket along for a portable changing area!)) I do not charge for outfit changes. Please try on outfits in advance of the shoot to ensure that you like the fit and have all the coverage that you want. A shot of hairspray before you leave can help with frizzy flyaways. When applying make-up avoid any highlighters or concealers that bounce light.

Please remember to wear footwear to adventure at our location. If you need to bring a pair of shoes as a back-up, I recommend it!

Feel free to bring props- scarves, hats, ribbons, bows, flowers, and so forth! Its YOUR shoot! I may have a selection of props on hand if you let me know in advance.

Seasonal Guide

Spring

  • DO: Pastels and bold colors. Both patterns and solids are lovely this time of year!
  • DON'T: Wear solid whites or blacks. Blacks don't allow for much detail and contrast poorly with fall scenes. Black pants are fine. Avoid whites as they don't look so lovely during golden hour and can show through to undergarments. Off whites, neutrals, and cremes (thicker fabric) look lovely in the fall.

Summer

  • DO: Really, anything goes!

Fall

  • DO: For fall shoots I recommend jewel tones (purples, deep reds, blues, and greens) as these contrast nicely with the fiery fall backgrounds. Tall boots or a scarf can be a nice added touch! If you wear a dress, I recommend tights and a

Winter

  • DO: Be comfortable! We each are beholden to our own internal thermostats. Usually, I recommend some shots with your winter gear and coats and some without. Solid colors, jewel tones, and flannels combat the stark solid whites. A sweater is always a good call! If you wear a dress, I recommend tights!
